DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan – Gov. Ramon Guico III has temporarily banned the entry of all ducks and spent hens (culls) in the province to shield the poultry industry from bird flu.
Guico has issued Executive Order (EO) No. 0103-2022 to ensure that the bird flu disease will not harm poultry raisers and also to protect the public from its ill effects.
The EO took effect last Tuesday, July 12, and will last until September 30.
Provincial veterinarian quarantine officers have been deputized to conduct quarantine checkpoints in the possible entry points of quail and duck shippers from all regions.
This includes the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) and other strategic road lines.
The EO also mandates owners of chickens, turkeys, and geese farms and other types of poultry products to present a certification that they, as well as their establishments, are free from avian influenza and Newcastle disease to be allowed entry into the province.
All local chief executives have been ordered to strengthen biosafety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in slaughterhouses and abattoirs, public markets, and poultry farms in their jurisdictions.
The Department of Agriculture has reported confirmed cases of avian influenza in neighboring provinces such as Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Benguet, Isabela, and other provinces such as Laguna, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, and Maguindanao.
