Bong Go: Gov’t workers to be affected by rightsizing plans should be compensated

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Thursday said the government should make sure that government workers who may be affected by the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) plan to rightsize the bureaucracy are fully compensated and given livelihood opportunities.

Go stressed there must be a careful balance between eliminating redundancies and inefficiencies in the bureacracy in order to provide public service that can help uplift the lives of Filipinios while at the same time, protecting the welfare of public sector workers.

I support moves to streamline the bureaucracy to make public services more faster and efficient),” Go said in a statement.

But in all these, we should also consider the welfare of government workers who may be transferred, or lose their position),” Go added.

“We must make sure that government workers who may be affected are given proper compensation, due process in accordance with civil service rules and other regulations, and when deemed necessary, alternative employment opportunities to start anew especially amid these trying times,” he stressed.

Dapat walang magutom lalo na sa panahon ngayon (All in all, we need to scrutinize all plans so we can balance solving the problems in government and at the same time protect the livelihood of all Filipinos. No one should go hungry during these times),” Go said.
