Two suspects in mauling of MMDA enforcer surrender

Two suspects in the mauling of a Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer on June 26 during a clearing operation finally surrendered to the police.

Col. Cesar Paday-os, city police chief, identified the suspects as Asrap Paino, 22, and a 16 year-old, both E-trike drivers and residents of Barangay Sto. Nino, Pasay City.

Paday-os said the suspects were among the eight suspects who mauled Jose Zabala of the MMDA Route Clearing Operation.

He said the suspects joined other suspects in mauling Zabala during a clearing operation conducted on June 26 in front of Dexin Building located along EDSA corner Don Carlos Revilla St., Pasay City.

The city police chief said the suspects surrendered to Lt. Alexander Macarunay, Patrol Supervisor at the Baclaran Sub-Station on Monday, July 11, and were turned over to the Investigation Detective and Management Section (IDMS) of the Pasay City police.

Paday-os said the suspects decided to surrender to the police to have “peace of mind.” They admitted their participation in the mauling of Zabala.

He said the 16-year-old E-trike driver was referred to the city Social Welfare Development, Pasay City Youth Homes for assessment.
