LIST: Kids and family movies and series to watch

And they're all new under Netflix's "See What’s Next Jr: Southeast Asia"

It's school break and parents are usually stressed about how to keep their children busy. Aside from enrolling them in extra-curricular activities, they should also have a set schedule at home—including watching new films and series.

The good news is, Netflix just launched their "See What's Next Jr" for Southeast, and it's the first Kids & Family event that was held last July 8 to 10 here in Manila, Philippines. The country played host to invited families from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, with kids being treated to a fun weekend filled with carnival-themed games and viewing night with lots of cuddles via a pajama party with Rica Peralejo's family and Kean Ciprano and Chynna Ortaleza's family present as well.

Guests were treated to a sneak preview of Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, which airs July 14. Other shows to watch out for include:

There was also a workshop, teaching parents on how to handle family-friendly features on Netflix. After all, it is important to create a fun and safe viewing experience for the whole family. Here are some of them.

  1. Customize your kids' watch experience by creating a Netflix Kids profile and leveraging parental controls.
    a. You can choose maturity ratings or block shows. When you set a maturity rating for a profile, that profile will see only TV shows and movies that fit that rating. You can also block specific TV shows and movies.
    b. Lock your profile or other profiles on your account. If you want to restrict access to a specific profile on your account, you can protect it with a profile lock pin.
    c. Turn autoplay on or off. Netflix has two autoplay features that you can turn on or off for each profile on an account.
    d. Access viewing history for a profile. You can see the TV shows and movies that have been watched on each profile on your account.
  2. Yes, you can download shows.
Use the download feature and keep your kids' favorite show or movie at-the-ready before heading out to a summer destination. To download, open the Netflix app on any device, select a TV show or movie, tap download, and you're on your way! Note that not all titles are available for download.
  3. Add some character to their summer and profile avatars.
Help your kids change their profile icon to some of the most beloved characters from Netflix shows and movies. You can change the icons by going to your account settings and choosing "manage profiles." After you select a profile, you can edit it and change the avatar.
  4. Check out the mystery box.
The mystery box feature provides a fun way for kids to discover their next favorite series and movies, or reconnect with a familiar face. Kids, parents, and caregivers can enjoy this feature by following these three simple steps:
    a. Log in to a kids' profile
    b. Find the kid's "favorite row" at the top of the homepage. This row is character-driven to more easily and vividly connect them with the characters, shows, and films they love as soon as they turn on Netflix.
    c. Hover over the sparkly "Mystery Box" to discover a title that is new for you.
