Eric Ejercito loves to act, direct, and dance. This particular season, though, he’s going to be Eric Ejercito, the music artist.

“I love pop music in general, may it be western pop, K-pop groups, or solo artists,” said Eric, son of former actor and governor of Laguna E. R. Ejercito (George Estregan Jr.), during a Zoom with the entertainment press recently.

For now, he holds the distinction of being the only Ejercito who sings professionally. Back in 2018, Eric (then known as Eric E.) wrote, performed, and produced “Fearless” whose music video mixed cinematic story telling with a tightly choreographed dance performance.

After almost four years, Eric returns with a new single, the energetic and electro-tinged dance single titled “Fool.”

Listeners can expect the same (if not more) of the same kind of exuberance that he’s put into his interests. The new track—about being made a fool of in the name of love--also puts on display, Eric’s love for K-styled pop (essentially P-pop) and dance. Eric is also co-directing the music video with L.A. based director Jeff Centauri.

"The song is a collation of every single thing I love doing, producing, film making, dancing, singing, art design, performing. All of these things are a work of art, and I’m merging them into a masterpiece," said Eric. "I'm very excited and very happy to promote this project. When I wrote this song, shared it with my friends, and the song was done, my friends would say hey that's good man!" 

He might’ve also stumbled onto K-pop when early on he was told that his “style and the way I look resembles the ‘Korean’ aesthetic” that prompted him to research the music genre & dove into it more and has since, in his own words, been “bitten by the (K-pop) bug.”

“My style is a representation of myself I must say, Also I’m a solo act. I’m not in a group like most here so as far as comparison, Surely, it’s fresh for the Ppop scene, I’m just being me," he also said.

Before he dove into pop, Eric revealed he had a band and dance crew.

"I had a band throughout high school and college. I have a dance crew as well where we competed internationally. Through the years, it hit me to combine both," he said.

A graduate of filmmaking at De La Salle College of St Benilde on Taft Avenue in Manila, Eric also enjoys acting. In fact, he has appeared on several acting projects. He also hinted at an acting project which was completed recently. He has been encouraged to join politics, but it does not interest him at all.

"I actually shot this project. I cannot disclose anything yet, but I just shot an iconic character. I really can't share, but I am excited about that. The platform of showing that is really that big and the director is such an award-winning director. That's all I can share for now about acting," said Eric.

Eric said he's taking one step at a time to become a versatile artist.

“I want to be known as an overall versatile artist. The guy who can literally make it happen from the very first step, up to this moment. I am managing to give it my all every single day. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really tough producing and performing simultaneously and all, but I’m just grateful for the people I’ve worked with and helped me along the way, and we were able to come up with this fantastic project that I’m truly proud of,” he added.
