DPWH completes asphalt overlay of Sulvec Port Road in Ilocos Sur

NARVACAN, Ilocos Sur – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Ilocos Sur Second District Engineering Office has completed two asphalt overlay projects on Sulvec Port Road here.

The Sulvec Port Road provides access to tourist destinations in this municipality such as the Sulvec Beach and the Narvacan Outdoor Adventure Hub which is currently undergoing improvements.
The newly asphalted road also serves as a faster and safer access to Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) School of Fisheries.

District Engineer Emil R. Ganaden reported to DPWH Regional Office 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan that the two preventive maintenance projects on Sulvec Port Road included asphalting of existing concrete pavement with a total length of 2.592 kilometers, 6.10 meters wide, and 50 millimeters thick.

“Asphalting cost-effectively extends the life of existing pavement. It also provides local residents and tourists a smoother, pleasant, and more convenient passage while traversing the road,” Ganaden added.
