Marcos recognizes Pinoys' top concerns; says he anticipated 'potential problems'

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. recognizes Filipinos' top urgent concerns on inflation, wages, and poverty, saying he has "anticipated (these) as potential problem(s)."

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said on Tuesday, July 12, that the President actually discussed the concerns on inflation and other economic-related matters during his first Cabinet meeting on July 5.

Angeles said Marcos had anticipated these concerns would later be raised.

"We actually discussed inflation at the last Cabinet meeting and the President himself reported this, so he is actually ahead of the publication of the survey having anticipated this as a potential problem," the Press Secretary said in a message to reporters.

According to the latest Pulse Asia survey, Filipinos are most concerned about controlling inflation, increasing the pay of workers, and reducing poverty.

The survey showed that 57 percent of Filipinos identified controlling inflation as the most urgent national concern.

“This is the leading first-ranked national concern (29 percent) and is deemed urgent by small to considerable majorities across geographic areas and socio-economic groupings (62 percent to 69 percent and 58 percent to 62 percent, respectively), with the rest of Luzon and Class ABC being the exceptions (46 percent and 48 percent, respectively),” Pulse Asia said.

The survey was conducted from June 24 to 27 with 1,200 respondents.
