DOH records 60 additional Omicron BA.5 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday, July 12, a total of 60 additional Omicron BA.5 cases in the country.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a press briefing that 58 individuals are from Region 6 while two others are from Region 11 and 12, respectively.

They all tested positive for the Omicron BA.5 subvariant based on the latest sequencing result.

DOH is yet to verify the exposure of the individuals as well as their travel histories.

Vergeire added that one individual was confirmed to be unvaccinated while the vaccination status of the 59 remaining individuals is still being verified.

She mentioned that one of them presented mild symptoms while the severity of the disease of the 59 others is still for verification.

The official said however, that 43 individuals have been tagged as recovered, 14 are still under isolation while the status of the three others is still being verified.

Meanwhile, the DOH also recorded 17 additional BA.2.12.1 cases. Six individuals are from Region 6, while 10 are from Region 11 and one is a returning overseas Filipino (ROF).

All 15 individuals have been tagged as recovered while the rest are under isolation.

On the other hand, two additional BA.4 cases were also detected according to Vergeire. They are from Region 11 and 12, respectively and have been tagged as recovered.
