Dior demands 100K euro compensation from Valentino

Valentino’s recent fashion show in Rome allegedly blocked shoppers from entering Dior’s boutique

On July 8, Valentino presented its latest couture collection at the romantic Spanish Steps and Piazza di Spagna in Rome. Stars and fashion industry elites witnessed the unveiling of the collection led by the luxury label's creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Dubbed “The Beginning,” the collection is a breathtaking parade that pays homage to Valentino’s rich fashion history. To say the least, it is a couture showcase that is full of glamor, beauty, and drama. Unfortunately, its drama aspect spanned days after the runway show as fashion house Dior demands compensation as Valentino’s recent runway show caused disruption to Dior’s boutique at the corner of Via Condotti and facing the Spanish Steps.

A report by WWD states Dior sent a letter to Valentino asking for a 100,000 euro compensation that must be settled within 15 days and is willing to “adopt all the necessary measures to protect its rights.” According to the Parisian fashion brand, the show has allegedly blocked would-be shoppers from entering its store, and that it “remained empty and could not operate from the early hours of the afternoon.” The fashion house also stressed its great retail loss as the show took place on a Friday, “a day when surely proceeds are .”

A letter sent by Valentino to retailers in the area on June 27 “guaranteed regular foot traffic to the stores,” as per Dior. As of this writing, no further statement has been released by both Dior and Valentino.
