DepEd: Schools across PH should transition to in-person classes beginning Nov. 2

Public and private schools across the country will be given ample time to “slowly transition” from distance learning to full face-to-face classes beginning Nov. 2, 2022.

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday, July 12, released the official calendar for school year (SY) 2022-2023. Under DepEd Order No. 034 s. 2022, classes for the upcoming school year will begin on Aug. 22, 2022 and end on July 7, 2023.

With this declaration, DepEd granted schools to “slowly transition” to five days of in person classes by giving them a chance to implement the following: five day in person classes; blended learning by conducting three days of face-to-face classes and two days of distance learning; and full distance learning. 

These modalities, however, shall only be implemented until Oct. 31, as all public and private schools across the country shall have transitioned to five days of in-person classes beginning Nov. 2, 2022.

“Ang general rule natin ay regardless of alert level, tuloy ang face-to-face classes . (Our general rule is regardless of Covid-19 alert level, face-to-face classes will push through on Nov. 2),” said DepEd Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III in a press conference on Tuesday, July 12.

“However, DepEd will give in and follow if the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) would decide that a certain government unit will lockdown or would recommend or approve that certain classes in a specific region or local government unit (LGU) will go back to this distance learning,” he furthered.
