The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) sent an immediate response to the communities heavily devastated by flash floods and landslides in the Municipality of Banaue, Ifugao on July 7.
Food packs and hygiene kits were distributed to the residents as per PRC.
“Agad tayong rumesponde at nagbigay-tulong sa mga naapektuhan ng flash floods at landslides dulot ng malakas na ulan (We immediately responded and gave assistance to those affected by flash floods and landslides brought by heavy rains),” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon said.
The incident affected 6 barangays, 500 families, and 1500 individuals based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's preliminary report.
The PRC, together with public and private agencies, is continuously monitoring the situation.
An initial assessment was also conducted by PRC to determine the needs of the distressed residents.
“Hindi natin iiwan ang mga kababayan natin sa Banaue, Ifugao hanggang matiyak natin na sila ay ligtas at nakaahong muli sa insidenteng ito (We are not going to leave our countrymen in Banaue, Ifugao until we make sure that they are safe and able to rise from this incident),” Gordon added.
