NSA Carlos denies supporting ICC probe on Duterte war vs drugs
DAVAO CITY – National Security Adviser Prof. Clarita Carlos denied Sunday, July 10, that she supports the International Criminal Court (ICC) investigation of the war on drugs of former President Duterte.
In an online interview with broadcast journalist Anthony Taberna, Carlos said she was asked the same question two years ago and she already has a clear position on the issue.
"Very clear ang position ko niyan. ‘Yang ICC na yan bago sila maka-imbestiga, kailangan munang i-establish na there are not enough, adequate investigations being done on the domestic level (My position is very clear. The ICC must establish there are not enough, adequate investigations on the domestic level before they investigate)," she said.
She said if the ICC could not proceed if they cannot establish that there is no investigation conducted on the local level.
Carlos said people are just hollowing her statements and just get the lines they need to make clout.
"Napagod na ako ng kaka-correct niyan (I am tired of correcting them)," she said.
She said these people seem to have a selective perception and confirmation bias to her statements.
"Meaning, in an array of sentence that I've been articulated, over so many minutes then you only choose the ones that you want to shoot me down with," she said.
She said her critics on the issue should listen to her whole statements to get the real picture.
“Kaya nga ayaw ko ng recorded interviews kasi ang gagawin nila, i-splice lang nila yan tapos aalisin nila ang premises ko (That is why I don’t like recorded interviews. They will just splice it to remove my premises)," she said.
