To enhance the beauty of Marikina City, Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro signed on Monday, July 11, multilateral memorandums of agreement (MOA) with a manufacturing company and two non-profit organizations (NGOs) for designing and painting murals in selected areas in the city.

Representatives of the Asian Coatings Inc., which produces the Rain or Shine brand of paint, the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) Marikina Valley Chapter, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Inc. (PCCI) New Marikina Chapter gathered at the Marikina Freedom Park for the signing.
Among the signatories of the MOA were Edison Orbiana, the business development head of Rain Or Shine, Engr. Noel Flores, the president of the PCCI, and Aleli De Jesus, the president of the PCA.
Through the MOA, murals will be painted at UBB Barangka, specifically the residential area along Marcos Highway, and in Barangay Sta. Elena at the commercial establishment along Shoe Avenue that spans V. Gomez to Chanyungco Streets.
A commercial establishment located in NGI Parang was also selected as a spot for the mural design.
The local government said the project will help form and craft aesthetics that showcases the life and vibrancy of the city.
"Hindi simpleng pagpipintura ang gagawin sa mga lugar na ito bagkus may “aesthetics” na lubos na mahalaga sapagkat repleksyon ito ng karakter o pagpapahalaga ng isang lungsod sa kapaligiran (We are not simply painting these places. They will be painted to create "aesthetics" that are significant to the city, reflect the city and the citizens' character, as well as show the city's care for the environment)," the local government said.
Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players of team Rain Or Shine Gabe Norwood and Shaun Ildefonso were the special guests of the event.
Other attendees included Vice Mayor Marion Andres, and the members of the 10th city council of Marikina.
