China eyes more partnership with PH in auto industry

The Chinese government is expecting more partnership with the Philippines in the automotive industry as part of its efforts to work with the latter in all sorts of cooperation.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian said Monday he is “looking forward to seeing the Philippines-China cooperation in the auto industry achieving more fruitful outcomes.”

Huang had high hopes as he noted that the Philippine auto industry is the 9th largest in the Asia-Pacific region.

He said the country has “an extensive market and promising prospects, which also provides plenty of opportunities for future cooperation between our two countries.”

“Looking forward, China will continue to make an all-out effort to stabilize the sound development of the country's auto industry, promote the development of NEVs (neighborhood electric vehicles) and intelligent internet-connected vehicles, and elevate the stability and competitiveness of the industrial chain,” the envoy said.

During the recent visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to the Philippines, the top official promised that China will strengthen all areas of comprehensive and strategic partnerships.

For Huang, the prosperous auto industry underscores the resilient and complete automotive industry chain in China.

This in turn stabilizes the global supply chain and the international market amid the pandemic, he added.
