AirAsia launching ride-hailing & food delivery biz in Manila

AirAsia Super App is launching its ride hailing and food delivery services in Manila soon, Capital A (formerly AirAsia Group) Executive Director Tony Fernandes told reporters over the weekend's media courtesy call at his Red Q Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

While he is scheduled to visit the Philippines next month, the two new businesses will likely be launched before the end of 2022, Super App Philippines executives noted.

Already, the company is securing a franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for its ride-hailing service.

It is also into discussion with local merchant partners for its food delivery business.

The airasia Super App officially launched in the Philippines last April and operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand as well.

Anchored by an integrated rewards program and mobile wallet, the platform
offers flight and hotel bookings, e-commerce, food and parcel delivery, ride-hailing, financial and health services, on-demand education, among others.

Last August, the ride hailing platform, airasia ride, was launched in Malaysia as part of Capital A’s digital transformation journey.

Right now, it has expanded operations to 10 cities across Malaysia in eight months.

Airasia ride will likewise be launched in Thailand and Indonesia this 2022.
