‘Libreng Sakay’ in CAR extended until July 15 – LTFRB


BAGUIO CITY – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced Friday, July 1, that the “Libreng Sakay” (free ride) program under the Service Contracting Program Phase 3 in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has been extended until July 15.

Seventy-six modern public utility vehicles from Baguio City, Benguet, and Mountain Province are participating in the program.

Their routes are Baguio Plaza-Trancoville, Baguio Plaza-Aurora Hill, Baguio Plaza-BGH-Campo Sioco, and Baguio Plaza-Camp 8-Poliwes-San Vicente here, Bontoc-Bauko in Mountain Province, and Ambayao-La Chesa, Baguio City and Baguio City-La Trinidad in Benguet.

The program has served more than a million commuters and tourists headed to the Central Business District here since it started April 16.

Meanwhile, 19 modern jeepney units were turned over to a public transport cooperative here Thursday, June 30, which will increase the city's compliance with the public utility vehicle modernization program. They will serve the Aurora Hill-Plaza, Trancoville-Plaza, and the Lourdes-Dominican Plaza route.
