ASG member-cum-drug pusher killed in gunfight with troops in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A notorious Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade was killed in a shootout with government troops in Barangay Lumbaan Mahaba, Parang, Sulu Wednesday, June 29.

Gan Salahudin, alias “Gan,” was gunned down by the 4th Special Forces Company, 2nd Special Forces Battalion under the 1101st Infantry Brigade.

Gan’s father is ASG sub-leader Apah Salah. The suspect sought refuge in homes owned by his wife’s relatives to evade pursuing government forces.

The neutralized bandit was reportedly involved in the illegal drugs trade and affiliated with the notorious Alganil Dawadil Drug Syndicate.

Soldiers recovered an assault rifle, a grenade launcher, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia from the suspect.

Lt. Col. Benito Ramos Jr., 2nd Special Forces Battalion commander, has called on remaining bandits to surrender to the government. “There is no better time to do it than now,” said Ramos.
