Villanueva thanks LTFRB for approving P1 provisional fare hike

The chairman of the Senate Labor Committee thanked on Thursday, June 9 the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for approving a provisional P1 fare increase for public utility jeepneys (PUJs) in Metro Manila and in Regions 3 and 4.

‘’Patuloy po sanang dinggin ng LTFRB ang mga panig ng mga tsuper, operator at mga commuter hinggil sa pagtaas ng singil ng pamasahe (I hope the LTFRB continues to hear the side of drivers, operators and commuters on fare increases),’’ Senator Joel Villanueva, committee chairman, said.

Villanueva said the P1 fare increase should be complemented by fast and efficient distribution of fuel subsidies for the transport sector.

‘’Hiling lang din po natin sa mga jeepney driver ay huwag kaligtaan ang discount para sa mga senior citizen, estudyante, at mga kababayan nating PWDs (Our drivers should not forget to give discounts to senior citizens, students and persons with disabilities),’’ he added.
