INDANG, Cavite – Residents here are complaining about the "invasion" by swarms of flies of their communities.
Some expressed their frustration on Facebook, in the hopes of getting a solution.

"Madami po kasing poultry dito sa malapit sa amin, kaya po pag nagha-harvest sila, dumadami po ang langaw (There are many poultry farms here and when they harvest, flies abound)," a resident of Barangay Tambo Malaki who asked not to be named told the Manila Bulletin on June 8.
Businesses in the area are also bewailing the effect of flies on their income. Due to the constant presence of the annoying insect, hospitality-related ventures are getting negative online reviews from customers.
But even for regular residents, the swarms of flies are a menace.
"'Di ka na makakain nang maayos, malingat ka lang, nasa plato mo na. Minsan 'pag inom nang kape, napapasama na sa inom. 'Di makatambay sa labas dahil mas marami pang langaw kaysa sa tao (You cannot eat well because they get into your food. Sometimes, even the coffee that you drink will have a fly landing on it. You cannot stay outside because there are more flies than people)," a resident said.

To cope with the problem, residents turn to fly traps, insect sprays, and fly-killing baits.
The local government unit has set up a meeting with residents, poultry farm owners, and barangay officials next week to come up with a long-term solution to the issue.
