June Mar Fajardo has pledged to donate P200 for every point during the course of San Miguel Beer’s campaign in the PBA’s 47th season.

The endeavor was announced Wednesday, June 8 during the Beermen’s 108-100 victory over the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The six-time Most Valuable Player will also add P1,000 for each three-pointer made and P100,000 should San Miguel advance to the finals.

He initiated the project in coordination with the PBA to honor his late mother Marites, who died last August.

“Para sa mama ko 'yon,” said Fajardo, adding that he will later discuss other details with the league.

Fajardo raised P4,800 after scoring 24 points as SMB took down a pesky Phoenix side to open the season on a high note.

Aside from his scoring numbers, Fajardo also had 15 rebounds, six assists and three blocks, perhaps an indication that the gentle giant is back to his old menacing form after dealing with nagging injuries the past two years.

“Kailangan strong start kami this conference kasi sa previous conferences namin, lagi kaming natatalo sa first game. Good thing na napanalo namin yung game ngayon,” he said.
