PH Red Cross provides assistance to Bulusan Volcano victims

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) deployed members and volunteers of its basic services teams to Juban, Sorsogon on Wednesday, June 8.

This is in line with the PRC's non-stop assistance to the victims of the Bulusan Volcano phreatic eruption on June 5.

The PRC Welfare Services Team set up two Welfare Desks to provide psychosocial first aid to 699 adults and child-friendly activities for 76 children who fled from the eruption.

As of 8:00 a.m, the PRC Hot Meals on Wheels which was deployed immediately after the eruption has already served a total of 714 persons.

The PRC Hot Meals on Wheels is a food truck that serves hot meals to disaster-stricken individuals across the country.

Moreover, the PRC Safety Services Team set up a First Aid station and is on standby for any medical emergencies.

They have served 59 patients who had their blood pressure taken and treated three patients for minor injuries.

Also, the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Unit conducted a hygiene promotion activity for 136 individuals.

The PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon is closely monitoring the situation in Juban and is giving necessary directions to PRC volunteers and staff.

“Ang Philippine Red Cross volunteers at staff ay may kasanayan at laging handang rumesponde sa ating mga kababayan sa ganitong mga oras ng emergency (The Philippine Red Cross volunteers and staff are equiped with experience and always ready to respond to our countrymen in times of emergencies like this),” he said in a statement.
