ITCZ to bring scattered rain showers, thunderstorms over 4 Mindanao regions

(MANILA BULLETIN)

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect most parts of Mindanao due to the prevalence of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, June 8.

ITCZ is an area where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge that brings cloudiness and rains.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for the next 24 hours.

The State weather bureau warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, the whole country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
