Gun-toting man arrested in Navotas City fish port


A man was arrested for carrying a gun and frightening residents with it at a fish port in Navotas City on Tuesday evening, June 7.

The Navotas City Police Station (NCPS) identified the suspect as Jaime Castro, 40, from Tondo, Manila.

Police said that responding NCPS operatives conducted a Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) to arrest the suspect at the Navotas Fish Port, Market-3 in Brgy. NBBN around 10:30 p.m., after receiving a call from a concerned citizen about a man in possession of a gun which he was using to scare people in the area.

The suspect yielded a .38 caliber revolver and five live ammunition.

Castro will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591, the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act."

The SACLEO was implemented to enhance efforts of the government to eradicate illegal drugs, corruption, terrorism, illegal gambling and other crimes in the country, according to the Philippine National Police.
