CBCP supports resumption of F2F classes

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education (CBCP-ECCCE) expressed its support for the plan of the Department of Education (DepEd) for the resumption of face to face classes in the country.

Bayombong Bishop Elmer Mangalinao, chairman of the CBCP-ECCCE said, parents, teachers, and students have long been looking forward to the resumption of face-to-face classes.

“We fully support the plan of DepEd for the resumption of face-to-face classes for the school year 2022-2023. All concerned sectors have been waiting for this. It will serve as a welcome gift, a welcome announcement,” said Bishop Mangalinao over Radio Veritas.

The Church leader reminded school administrators to strictly enforce the safety health protocols to ensure the safety of the teachers, students, and all school employees from the COVID 19 virus.

Bishop Mangalinao, likewise, encouraged parents and guardians to cooperate and to have their children/wards vaccinated against the virus.

“It is important for parents to have their children vaccinated as a protection against COVID-19,” the prelate said.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said around 34,000 public schools and more than 1,100-private schools have resumed face-to-face classes.
