TNT routs Purefoods, captures second leg title in PBA 3x3

TNT made it two victories out of three halfway into the PBA 3x3 third conference after beating Purefoods, 21-13, to rule Leg 3 Tuesday, June 7 at Robinsons Magnolia in Quezon City.

Almond Vosotros fired 12 points as the Tropang Giga went back to their winning ways after being eliminated by the second leg champion Meralco Bolts in the quarterfinals held nine days ago in Las Pinas City.

Vosotros, Gryann Mendoza, Ping Exciminiano and Lervin Flores got the top purse of P100,000 plus 100 tour points despite splitting their two matches against San Miguel Beer and Cavitex in Pool B.

The Tropang Giga beat the Sista Super Sealers, 21-16, in the quarterfinals before exacting revenge on the Bolts by taking their semifinal affair, 18-14.

It was the second time TNT emerged as leg champion since the start of the conference, capturing the inaugural stage a few weeks ago also at Magnolia.

Purefoods’ Joseph Eriobu, Jed Mendoza, Val Acuna and new addition Marvin Hayes settled for a runner-up finish and P50,000.

The Titans topped Pool D at 2-0 before edging out the Limitless Appmasters, 21-19, during the quarters and Platinum Karaoke, 18-16, in the semis.

Platinum secured third place and P30,000 following its 14-12 triumph against Meralco in the consolation match.
