Rain or Shine ships Jayvee Mocon to Phoenix

Rain or Shine has decided to ship Jayvee Mocon to Phoenix in exchange for Nick Demusis and a pair of future picks.

Elasto Painters basketball operations chief Caloy Garcia confirmed the deal to Manila Bulletin, saying that they are scheduled to submit the trade proposal to the PBA technical committee on Tuesday, June 7.

Aside from Demusis, Rain or Shine will also get the Phoenix’s 2023 first round pick and 2024 second round pick.

Garcia is hopeful to get the green light from the Commissioner’s Office regarding the deal as the Elasto Painters also hope to give Mocon the chance to play in the season following their initial negotiations fell apart.

“We’re hoping na maapprove para tapos na. Kami lang we just threw that in kasi gusto rin namin palaruin si Jayvee so on our side kasi I think it’s a fair deal and yun kung ano ang iapprove kasi they can give us naman suggestions on how can it be better or what’s fair,” said Garcia.

According to Garcia, Mocon’s camp turned down a supposed three-year deal with Rain or Shine.

If the trade gets the approval, the Fuel Masters will get the rights for the San Beda standout although both camps still need to reach an agreement regarding Mocon’s contract.
