This was announced by PGH spokesperson Dr. Jonas Del Rosario during a “Laging Handa” briefing on Tuesday, June 7.

“Ngayon po ay tinigil na po muna namin ‘yung mga elective procedures na naman para ho talagang matutukan itong emergencies ( Right now, we have temporarily stopped our elective procedures to focus on emergencies),” he said.

“Bawal muna pong mag-accept ng mga pasyente elective lang naman po ang rason para ma-admit sa hospital ( For now, it is prohibited to accept patients whose reason for their hospital admission is elective procedure).”

On Sunday, June 4, Del Rosario announced that the emergency department of the PGH is already full and has already reached 200 percent capacity.

He noted that most of the patients admitted to the emergency department of PGH have non-Covid medical conditions.

Meanwhile, Del Rosario appealed to other hospitals to coordinate first with the PGH before bringing patients to them.

For people who want to walk in at PGH, he advised them to head to the outpatient department instead of the emergency department, especially if their situations are not emergency cases.
