Metro Manila continues to see slight uptick in Covid-19 cases — OCTA

Metro Manila’s Covid-19 reproduction number and positivity rate have increased slightly for the May 31 to June 6 monitoring period, based on the OCTA Research’s latest report.

In an update shared on Twitter on Tuesday, June 7, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said the daily average of new Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila had a 10 percent increase from 78 to 86 cases, covering the periods May 24-30, and May 31-June 6, respectively.

“The one-week ADAR or average daily attack rate increased from 1.08 to 1.24 the positivity rate increased from 1.5 percent to 1.6 percent over an average of 9,430 tests per day,” David said.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila’s healthcare utilization rate remains low, as it decreased from 23 percent to 21 percent during the same week.

David pointed out that Metro Manila is still under low-risk classification for Covid-19.

However, he reminded the public to continue their vigilance and comply with minimum public health protocols.

“ NCR remained at low risk amidst the uptick in new cases, but the public is advised not to be complacent with health protocols,” David said.
