It’s funny how Apple makes a rock star-kind of entrance when it comes it iOS 16. It’s one of the most looked forward events from Apple and the things they introduce are pretty neat, after all.

iOS 16 is determined to become a one-stop check of notifications and information without leaving the lock screen. The iOS 16 lock screen are fully customizable. Fonts and colors can be changed to whatever suits the user’s taste. Widgets like calendar and weather can be integrated. It’s also possible to configure multiple lock screens, so you just need to swipe around to get to the page you need to be. Also, Focus modes can be placed on different lock screens.

Because of all these information will be filling up the lock screen, notifications have been moved at the bottom, which steadily rolls by.
Beyond the lock screen, iOS 16 will deliver new features for Messages. Unsending messages if one. You can also edit messages that you’ve already sent – which sounds pretty interesting. You would also be able to mark message threads as unread so you can check them out later. And SharePlay is headed to messages as well.

Apple’s Live Text, which reads written texts in images and digitizes them, will now also come to video. iCloud gets an updated sharing feature, where you can share up to six family members.
Perhaps one of the more interesting and probably needed feature coming from iOS 16 is Safety Check. This is to support and protect survivors of abuse. The feature allows them to check if anyone has access to their apps and remove them and other information. It’s a step forward and it’ll be interesting to see how this feature evolves in the years to come.
iOS 16 will be available from iPhone 8 and later and would probably (most likely) roll out with the iPhone 14.
