De La Salle repeated its mastery over rival Ateneo and survived with a 19-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12 win while Adamson eliminated University of the Philippines, 25-18, 16-25, 25-22, 25-17, to keep its Final Four hopes alive in the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament Tuesday night, June 7.

The Lady Spikers used quick attacks and utilized their middle offense with the help of Thea Gagate on the frontline to improve at 10-3 record.
De La Salle's win also kept Adamson within the Final Four race as the Taft-based squad, seeded at No. 2, only need one more win to take a twice-to-beat advantage.
It was Alleiah Malaluan and Baby Jyne Soreño though who led the Lady Spikers' balanced attack with 17 points apiece off 16 and 14 spikes, respectively.
Jolina Dela Cruz chalked up 14 markers while Gagate chipped in 12 points for De La Salle.
"Actually, ang message lang talaga is kailangan gustuhin niyo. So kung gugustuhuhin niyo, makukuha natin," said Lady Spikers assistant coach Benson Bocboc. "So buti naman nag-respond 'yong mga players and we got the win. So talagang ginusto nila. Bawat point makikita niyo napakahirao."
Leading only by a point at 11-10 in the fifth and decisive set, De La Salle scored three straight points off two crucial errors from Ateneo and a conversion from Fifi Sharma to reach match point.
Faith Nisperos stopped the bleeding for the Blue Eagles and denied Soreño's attack on the net before Takako Fujimoto pumped life with a service ace, 14-12.
Soreño, however, put the finishing touches in the ensuing play as she soared for an off-the-block hit for the win.
Nisperos paced the Eagles, who tied with the Lady Falcons at 7-6, with 29 points built on 27 attacks while Erika Raagas fired 17 markers off 14 attacks and two blocks. Vannie Gandler also had 10 points for Ateneo.
Adamson fought for dear life to cap the quadruple-header as Trisha Genesis paved the way with 18 points all coming from spikes.

Rizza Cruz and May Ann Nuique also chipped in 12 and 11 markers, respectively, for the Lady Falcons.
Adamson led by as many as nine points in the fourth set, 16-7, to pull away for good and never look back.
Aly Bertolano led UP with 22 points while Jewel Encarnacion and Stephanie Bustrillo added 13 and 11 points each for the Lady Maroons, who slipped to a 5-7 record.
