PH Red Cross releases advisory on what to do during a volcanic eruption
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) released a set of guidelines on Monday, June 6 on what to do during a volcanic eruption.

This was after the reported phreatic eruption at Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon on Sunday morning, June 5.
Here are the best safety measures everyone must follow in order to be safe during an eruption.
- Follow the evacuation instructions given by authorities and prepare your own emergency plan
- Keep an eye on the latest updates and any directives from authorities through local radio or television
- Make sure that your skin is covered and protected
- Wear face masks that were specifically designed to protect you from lung irritation caused by ashes
- Use goggles if available and avoid wearing contact lenses
- Bring your domesticated animals to evacuation facilities
- Tightly close your doors and windows to avoid fine particles released by the eruption from entering your home
- Prepare to bring the lifeline kit of your family for possible immediate evacuation. It is the kit that contains items that will help you survive the next 72 hours in an evacuation center
- List down important emergency contact numbers
Bulusan Volcano’s alert status remains at Level 1.
