PCG sends response team to Sorsogon

The Philippine Coast Guard fielded its Deployable Response Group (DRG) to Juban, Sorsogon on Monday, June 6, to help in the clearing operation and evacuation of residents in areas affected by the phreatic eruption of Mt. Bulusan.

Admiral Artemio Abu, PCG Commandant, said the DRG is composed of 23 personnel who were tasked to assist in clearing the ash fall and other obstructions in Juban, one of the most affected towns by Bulusan’s steam-driven explosion last Sunday.

Abu said the DRG started evacuating residents in Barangay Puting Sapa on Monday.

So far, a total of 58 families composed of 216 individuals were evacuated to the Juban Evacuation Center, according to data from the PCG Station Sorsogon.
