The Department of Health (DOH) urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with scammers pretending to be officials of the agency.
"The said scam will start off as a random number posing as a DOH official and will then solicit favors in acquiring gift cards," the DOH said in a statement.
DOH said that it will not solicit such favors from other units of the department, government agencies, or from the public.
"In light of this, any individual who experiences such modus should not share personal information to these scammers and instead block and immediately report them to the authorities," the DOH said.
The public may report such illegal acts to the National Bureau of Investigation- Anti Fraud Division through its email at [email protected] or call the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group via its hotline number at (8) 732-0401 local 7491.
