Outgoing Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon has started preparing to assume his role as the new mayor of the city.
On June 3, Biazon had a meeting with the incoming members of the Muntinlupa City Council and Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac.

“Nakipag meeting ako bilang incoming City Mayor sa incoming City Council kasama na ang Vice Mayor para sa setting of expectations at direksyon ng aming administrasyon lalo na ang first 100 days. (As incoming city mayor, I had a meeting with the incoming City Council together with the vice mayor for the setting of expectations and direction of our administration especially in the first 100 days),” Biazon posted on Facebook.
He added, “Looking forward ako sa magandang working relationship sa pagitan ng executive at legislative branches ng Muntinlupa City government.”
Biazon won as mayor in the May 9 national and local elections. His party mate, incumbent Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, won as the new congressman of Muntinlupa.
This will be the first time for Biazon and Fresnedi to assume new elective posts. Biazon won as Muntinlupa congressman in 2016 and 2019. He previously served as representative from 2001 to 2010. Fresnedi is on his third and last term as mayor and ran and won as congressman.
In the House of Representatives, Biazon became the vice chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations and Committee on National Defense and Security.

Last June 1, the House of Representatives adjourned sine die the third and final session of the 18th Congress,.
“As the current Congress is adjourned, the House of Representatives gave me this Certificate of Recognition for my service in the 18th Congress. It’s actually my fifth term of membership in the House, having been in the 12th, 13th, 14th, 17th and the 18th Congress,” Biazon posted.
According to Biazon, “The 18th Congress, which will historically be known as the Covid-19 Pandemic Congress, performed a crucial role in the government’s response to the public health emergency.”
“The House of Representatives passed legislation that provided the basis and framework for the programs that responded to the people’s needs during the crisis. Although there was a leadership change midway in the 18th Congress, one member of the House, the Majority Leader, provided stability and steadfastness in the coalition to ensure that the process of change in the Speakership is completed smoothly,” he said.
He praised Rep. Martin Romualdez of the 1st District of Leyte, the House Majority Floor Leader, for performing “his job in a sober, non-flamboyant manner, which was perfect for the circumstances faced by the 18th Congress. Legislation continued inspite of the challenges, resulting in the 18th Congress’ productive term.”
