Medical frontliners, OFWs get 'standing ovation' from Marcos, First Family

In a touching display of respect, the First Family led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. gave a "standing ovation" to the representatives of medical frontliners and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) during the leader's inauguration on Thursday morning, June 30.

The gesture was given during the military-civic parade in front of the National Museum in Ermita, Manila--the site of the inaugural ceremonies.

Marcos, his wife Liza, and his three sons Sandro, Simon, and Vincent were all sitting in the shade atop the makeshift stage atop the historic building when the emcee announced the participation of medical frontliners and OFWs in the parade.

The First Family stood up, applauded, and waved at the heroic Filipinos.

Marcos was seen saying "Thank you" to the representatives of the sector, and even bowed a few times.

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic placed a spotlight on the sacrifices and selflessness of the medical frontliners and OFWs, which the nation heavily relied on for the sake of public health and the economy.

Even if his wife and sons returned to their seats, the 64-year-old Marcos remained on his feet to applaud the other sectors represented in the parade.

These sectors included Filipino athletes, laborers, transport sector workers, and farmers.
