Riding-in-tandem arrested for robbery hold-up in Biñan, Laguna


BIÑAN CITY, Laguna – Two men were arrested in a hot pursuit operation following a robbery hold-up incident in Barangay Canlalay here on Thursday, June 2.

Biñan City Police Station identified the suspects as Kenkhannamel Bati, a resident of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and Eljohn Espeleta, a resident of Biñan.

The victim reported to the police that she was waiting for her husband along the national highway at 2:40 a.m. when the suspects held her at gunpoint, declared a hold-up, and took her wallet and cellphone before fleeing.

Authorities collared the suspects in Barangay San Vicente.

The police recovered from Bati a caliber .38 revolver with five bullets, a cellphone and P6,400. They also confiscated a motorcycle without a plate number and a belt bag with four assorted cellphones from Espeleta.

In a statement, Laguna Provincial Police Office Director Col. Cecilio Ramos Ison Jr. said the suspects were also responsible for hold-up robbery incidents in San Pedro City and Sta. Rosa City in Laguna and in Carmona, Cavite.

The suspects are now under police custody and are facing charges of robbery and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
