National University and University of Santo Tomas whipped their respective opponents to clinch their twice-to-beat advantage heading into the Final Four of the UAAP Season 84 men's beach volleyball at the Sands SM By the Bay in Pasay City Friday, June 3.

The Bulldogs' duo of James Buytrago and Pol Salvador zoomed past the first round with a five-match win streak capped by a 21-9, 21-9 demolition of the Adamson Soaring Falcons pair of Francis Casas and Aaron Mirador.
The Tiger Spikers, now led by two-time Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist James Requinton and reigning Most Valuable Player Rancel Varga, thwarted the De La Salle Green Archers' Noel Kampton and Vince Maglinao with a 21-10, 21-14 win.
Despite sharing identical 5-1 records, NU emerged on the top as it held off UST in the opener, 12-21, 21-17, 15-12.
The Bulldogs, however, absorbed 21-12, 15-21, 11-15 at the hands of the Green Archers also on opening day.
NU takes on the fourth-seeded University of the Philippines, composed of Louis Gamban and Dan Nicolas, while UST faces No. 3 squad De La Salle in the semifinals.
With the twice-to-beat grant, the Bulldogs and the Tigers only need one win to advance to the Finals on Sunday, June 5.
Should the Maroons and the Archers win, knockout matches are set later in the afternoon.
UP, which earlier survived Far Eastern University's Jelrod Talisayan and Martin Bugaoan, 21-16, 17-21, 19-17, ended up tied with Ateneo at 3-3.
But the Maroons had the last laugh after forcing a playoff and eked out a 21-12, 21-16 victory to take the last Final Four slot.
