No active case of Covid-19 recorded in Antique for the first time in 2 years

ILOILO CITY – For the first time in over two years, Antique no longer has an active case of COVID-19.

“This is a milestone for the provincial government, especially, for the health sector as COVID-free status is the ultimate goal ever since the pandemic started and cases started to increase,” said Antique Gov. Rhodora “Dodod” Cadiao.

“This was achieved because of the hard work of the medical frontliners and the cooperation of the Antiqueño people,” Cadiao added.

Over the past several months, the Antique Provincial Health Office has recorded a decline in COVID-19 cases.

The decline came as restrictions imposed by the Antique provincial government, including the removal of the Safe, Smart, and Swift Passage System (S-PaSS) for returning residents and even travelers, were eased.

Since the pandemic began, Antique has recorded 8,709 COVID-19 cases, including 349 deaths.

While there is no more active COVID-19 case, the national government still classified Antique under the Alert Level 2 status, due to the low vaccination coverage of the province.

Cadiao, a nurse by profession, is urging Antiqueños to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
