Medialdea, 11 other officials take oath as PCG auxiliary squad members
Twelve government officials and private individuals led by outgoing Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea were among the newest members of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) Executive Squadron.

Admiral Artemio Abu, PCG Commandant, led the donning and oath-taking ceremony of the newly appointed members of the PCG Auxiliary at the PCG national headquarters in Port Area, Manila on Thursday, June 2.
Medialdea took oath as an auxiliary vice admiral of the PCGA Executive Squadron. He was welcomed by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, who is also an active member of the PCGA with a rank of auxiliary vice admiral.
The unit serves as a support force to the PCG in the promotion of safety of life and property at sea as well as marine environment and its resources; conduct of maritime search and rescue; maintenance of aids to navigation, recreational safety, and other activities that enhance maritime relations.
He was joined by 10 auxiliary commodores namely Assistant Executive Secretary Kim Raisa Uy, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Administrative Service Artemio Tuazon; DOTr Undersecretary for Road Transportation and Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor; Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III; Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Romando Artes; Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Chief of Staff Danjun Lucas;
Mr. Noel Manankil, Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD) Corp. Executive Vice President; Ms. Evangeline Tejada, LIPAD Corp. Vice President for Commercial Development; Ms. Noelle Mina Meneses, Clark Development Corp. Business Enhancement Department Head; and Mr. Ricojudge Janvier Echiverri, Deputy Executive Secretary for Internal Audit Office of the President Philippine Public Safety College.
Meanwhile, Auxiliary Commodore Giovanni Lopez, DOTr Chief of Staff and Undersecretary of Finance, was promoted to the next higher rank of auxiliary rear admiral.
“The PCGAs are our active partners, especially in our Coast Guard Districts. They assist us in the performance of our mandated functions. We also have the PCGA Executive Squadron who are distinguished citizens whose position and influence in the society have a great impact on the people. Despite their individuality, they have one characteristic in common – the spirit of volunteerism,” Abu said.
