TESDA, AFP, COMELEC achieve highest approval, trust ratings — survey

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) have received the highest approval and trust ratings among respondents to the PUBLiCUS Asia survey conducted from June 16 to 22.

The 2nd quarter 2022 PAHAYAG survey, which has 1,500 respondents, found that 72 percent of respondents approve or strongly approve of TESDA's overall performance throughout the Duterte administration.

AFP and COMELEC notched total approval ratings of 69 percent and 66 percent, respectively.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (62 percent), Department of Science and Technology (62 percent), Department of Social Welfare and Development (62 percent), Department of Tourism (62 percent), and the Commission on Higher Education (61 percent) also received approval ratings of above 60 percent.

"All other agencies generally fared reasonably well, with the lowest rated agencies still managing to receive total approval ratings that outstripped their total disapproval ratings," PUBLiCUS noted in the executive summary of its second quarter survey.

Meanwhile, the highest total “disapproval” ratings were notched by the Department of Health (24 percent), Department of Education (19 percent), and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (18 percent).

However, the three agencies also earned total approval ratings of 50 percent or above, PUBLiCUS pointed out.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines was rated the most trustworthy government institution with 63 percent of respondents saying the trustworthiness of the military was “high” or “very high” throughout the term of outgoing President Duterte.

TESDA garnered a total high trust rating of 60 percent, followed by COMELEC (58 percent), DOST (54 percent), CHED (53 percent), DSWD (51 percent), the Department of Education (50 percent), and DPWH (50 percent).
