Lian, Batangas police chief killed in road accident

BATANGAS -- A chief of police in a Batangas town died after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) he was driving smashed into a 10-wheeler truck in Barangay Tulo in Taal town early Wednesday morning, June 29.

Major Amiel Bernardo Sanhi Jr., assigned at Lian Municipal Police Station, and a resident of Barangay Calicanto in Batangas City, was declared dead upon arrival at a hospital due to injuries he sustained.

The driver of the 10-wheeler truck was identified as Salvador Segfred who was arrested by the responding police.

According to Taal Philippine National Police, the victim was on his way to Batangas City when the collision happened around 12:50 a.m.

The police have taken over the investigation.
