DFA suspends consular office operations in Manila for Marcos inauguration

Operations at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) consular office in the city of Manila will be suspended Thursday, June 30, which was declared as a special non-working holiday.

The DFA made the announcement on Wednesday, June 29, to inform the public that the consular office located inside SM City Manila will be closed for the day.

Affected applicants, who will be unable to process their documents, will be given a new date of appointment, the DFA said.

"Affected passport and apostille or authentication applicants, with confirmed appointments, who will be unable to avail of consular services due to the suspension of operations will receive an email from CO NCR (Consular Office National Capital Region) West informing them of their new appointment date," the DFA said.

Operations at the consular office will resume on Friday, July 1.

The suspension of operations, the DFA said, is in pursuant to City of Manila Executive Order No. 53, series of 2022, which declared June 30, 2022 as a special non-working holiday throughout the city.

It is in line with the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on June 30 at the National Museum of the Philippines in Manila.
