All-out manhunt against killer of father and 8-month old daughter up in Surigao del Norte

BUTUAN CITY – The regional command of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) on Wednesday ordered an all-out manhunt against the killer of a father and his 8-month old daughter in Purok Mabuhay, Barangay Matin-ao, in Mainit town, Surigao del Norte province.

PRO 13 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. has ordered the hot pursuit operation for the speedy arrest of the suspect in the hacking incident on Monday right at the house of the victims.

The victims were identified as Johnny A. Seguira, 23 and his 8-month old Nene (name withheld).

Johnny sustained a lacerated wound on his left cheek and left portion of his neck, while her daughter's left palm was detached and her head is missing, according to initial report coming from the Mainit Municipal Police Station (MPS) stated.

Based on the initial report from Mainit MPS in Surigao del Norte, the suspect is believed to be mentally ill.

Investigation is still ongoing to determine the full identity of the perpetrator and the motive.

"We humbly request the community's support and cooperation in reporting any sightings of the perpetrator to the nearest police station so that he can be apprehended immediately, giving justice to the heinous murder of the two victims," added Brig. Gen. Caramat, in a statement Wednesday.

As of press time, Mainit MPS and the 1st Surigao del Norte Mobile Force Company are still conducting a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspect.
