PH Red Cross sends aid to victims of passenger vessel fire in Bohol

The volunteers and staff of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Bohol and Hilongos chapters sent an immediate response to the victims of a passenger vessel that got caught on fire in Bohol.

As per a statement released by PRC on Tuesday, June 28, their emergency response and relief personnel provided an ambulance unit with trained medical services personnel and a Welfare Desk at the Ubay Port in Bohol.

The MBCA Mama Mary Chloe, which carried 165 passengers and crews, caught fire between Ubay, Bohol and Bato town in Leyte on Sunday, June 26.

The medical personnel administered psychosocial first aid (PFA) to adult victims, set up child-friendly spaces for PFA to children, and assisted in restoring family links.

“Patuloy na gagawin ng Philippine Red Cross ang lahat ng aming makakaya para maging laging una, laging handa, at laging nandyan para sa ating mga kababayan (The Philippine Red Cross will continue to do our its best to be always ahead, always ready, and always present for our countrymen),” PRC chairman and chief executive officer Senator Richard Gordon said.
