The National Capital Region (NCR) and neighboring provinces of Region 4A—Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Lucena City, and Rizal—are still under Alert Level 1 despite the increasing coronavirus cases and positivity rate, Malacañang announced on Tuesday, June 28.
Outgoing Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said this classification will be effective from July 1 to 15, 2022.
The Department of Health (DOH) recorded a 53 percent increase of new Covid-19 cases in its weekly bulletin on Monday, June 27.
The record showed 4,634 new cases reported from June 20 to 26. This translates to an average of around 662 new cases a day.

Aside from NCR, 85 of 121 provinces, highly urbanized cities (HUCs) and independent component cities (ICCs) and 166 of 744 component cities and municipalities will remain under Alert Level 1 during the same period.
In a statement, Andanar released the July 1-15 alert level classification in the country, using the new matrices for the alert level system, as approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
The following provinces, HUCs, and ICCs, shall be placed under Alert Level 1 from July 1 to 15:
NCR: Caloocan City, City of Malabon, City of Navotas, City of Valenzuela, Pateros, City of Pasig, City of Marikina, Taguig City, Quezon City, City of Manila, City of Makati, City of Mandaluyong, City of San Juan, City of Muntinlupa, City of Parañaque, City of Las Piñas, and Pasay City
Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR): Abra, Apayao, Baguio City, Kalinga, and Mountain Province

The new matrix will remove the two-week growth rate in determining case risk classification.
Instead, “case risk classification shall be based on average daily attack rates and its current thresholds,” the statement said.
The main metric for health system capacity will remain as the total beds utilization rate and its current thresholds.
“Assignment of Alert Level shall be based on the revised cross tabulation of total beds utilization rate and average daily attack rate,” it read.
