Yuka Saso finishes at joint 30th in KPMG Women’s PGA Championship


Yuka Saso limped home with a five-over-par 77 to finish tied at 30th place in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Bethesda, Maryland Sunday (Monday in Manila).

Saso struggled with five bogeys and a double bogey against two birdies to finish with 292, nine strokes behind eventual champion In Gee Chun.

The Fil-Japanese had earlier rounds of 72, 70 and 73.

Chun stumbled with a 75 but still managed to capture the crown with a 283 total.

Saso blew cold at the front nine with bogeys on the second and seventh, and a double bogey on the par-4 fifth hole.

She briefly recovered with a birdie on the 11th, but blundered with back-to-back bogeys on the 12th and 13th.

She birdied the 14th but bogeyed the last hole.

Meanwhile, Bianca Pagdanganan staggered with a 78 for 301 following earlier rounds of 74, 73 and 76.

The Tokyo Olympian wobbled with seven bogeys against a lone birdie on the eighth hole for a share of 65th place.

Pagdanganan went home with $20,072 (around P1.1 million) while Saso pocketed $59,987 (around P3.2 million).
