The low pressure area (LPA) inside the country’s area of responsibility will continue to bring light to moderate rains over several parts of Luzon and Visayas in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, June 27.

PAGASA said the LPA was over the Tayabas Bay as of 10 a.m.

“This weather disturbance remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours and is expected to move west-northwestward,” PAGASA said.

However, the LPA will bring moderate to heavy rains over Quezon, Aurora, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro in the next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rains, with occasional heavy rains, will also prevail over the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Marinduque, Romblon, Isabela, Bicol Region, and Visayas.

“Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazards maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
