Loren describes 3-year stint as Antique congresswoman fruitful

SAN Jose de Buenavista, Antique – Incoming Sen. Loren Legarda on Monday, June 27, described her three years as Antique representative as fruitful.

“I served Antique precisely when the world was stricken by a global health crisis that exacted an enormous economic toll on humanity,” Loren said as she stepped down as congresswoman in a ceremony at the provincial capital here.

“(But) the past three years have also been the best years in Antique, where countless jobs were created and people were cared for in every respect, something never experienced in a very long time,” Loren said as she passed on her congressional seat to her younger brother, Representative-elect Antonio Agapito “AA” Legarda Jr.

The Legardas did not grow up in Antique but they have maternal roots in Pandan.

During her short stint in this province, Loren was credited for bringing in big-ticket projects. Her alliance with Gov. Rhodora Cadiao paved the way for funding for the upgrading of the Antique Airport which reopened for commercial operations in December 2018.

Loren also had projects in tourism, cultural heritage, livelihood, and social welfare.

Rep. Antonio Legarda assured Antiqueños that he will continue the programs and projects that have been initiated.
