Filipinas pull off comeback win over Bosnia and Herzegovina

The heroics of Quinley Quezada and Katrina Guillou paved the way for a 2-1 comeback win for the Filipina booters against Bosnia and Herzegovina in an international friendly at the Matija Gubec Stadium in Krsko, Slovenia Sunday, June 26.

Quezada and Guillou connived down the stretch and found the back of the net in a span of five minutes en route to their second straight win against the same opponent, which they defeated last June 24 with a 3-0 sweep.

After yielding to an early goal by Selma Kapetanovic in the 11th minute mark, the Filipinas continued to struggle in the first half and just couldn't find their groove yet.

Both Quezada and Guillou only entered in the next half even as Sara Eggesvik replaced captain Tahnai Annis late in the game.

Eggesvik, off an in-bound assist, found Quezada open before dribbling her position from the far-left wing and fired the goal for a 1-1 equalizer.

It only took five minutes, just before the final whistle, for Guillou to find the back of the net and convert another one for the Filipinas for the win.

Last week, the Philippines women's national team, however, absorbed a 1-0 defeat at the hand of Ireland in a friendly match.

The Filipinas, coached by Alen Stajcic, are building up their preparations for the upcoming 2022 AFF Women's Championship to be held next month here in the Philippines with Manila, Biñan, Laguna, and Imus, Cavite as venues.

They join Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia in Group A.
