Senior citizen in hiding for 20 years for murder nabbed in Isabela

REINA MERCEDES, Isabela – The long arm of the law finally caught up with a 67-year-old man who was finally arrested last Tuesday, June 21, after hiding for more than 20 years for murder in Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-2 identified the suspect as Oscar Corpuz of Barangay Poblacion, Diadi.

Corpuz, listed as one of the country’s most wanted persons, was arrested through warrants of arrest issued in 1999 by the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Bagabag-Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya and 2008 by the Regional Trial Court in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya in Barangay Banquero here.

Information from the Reina Mercedes police revealed that Corpuz allegedly stabbed Leonardo dela Cruz Jr. dead on May 7, 1999.

No bail was recommended for the suspect's temporary release.

The suspect was nabbed by combined elements of the Reina Mercedes Municipal Police Station; Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Isabela Police Provincial Office, and Regional Group of Special Concern, PRO-2.
